Player Expectations

Represent the Club with Pride
Your actions reflect on yourself, your team, and the Kirkwood United community—on and off the field.
Show Character and Respect
Always display sportsmanship, fairness, and respect toward teammates, opponents, coaches, referees, and spectators.
Prioritize Growth and Enjoyment
Focus on improving your skills and enjoying the game more than simply winning.
Commit to Academic Success
Do your best in the classroom as well as on the field.
Maintain Positive Conduct
Avoid confrontations, stay composed, and remain humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
Be Dependable and Prepared
Arrive early, attend all practices and games, wear your full uniform properly, and give your full effort and attention.
Take Responsibility and Communicate
Inform coaches about absences, injuries, or concerns in advance. Never leave a team event without permission.
Train Outside of Team Sessions
Commit to personal development by practicing independently.
Respect the Rules
Follow the FIFA Laws of the Game and the rules of SLYSA, MYSA, and all tournament events.
Understand Playing Time
Playing time is earned based on effort, attitude, and performance. It is not guaranteed. Coaches will strive for 50% playing time each half for U8–U12 players who meet expectations.
Live a Healthy Lifestyle
Stay drug, tobacco, and alcohol free. Violations may result in removal from the club.
Address Concerns Respectfully
Speak directly with your coach about soccer matters—include a parent if needed.
